It has been a long time since I updated the blog. So long that the version had jumped up by 4 minor numbers (from 2.3 to 2.7). So I just decided to upgrade the Wordpress. As always this was an uneventful and straight forward upgrade. Just follow the instructions and you are set.

I am planning to get back to updating this blog more often in the future. Hopefully this time I can stick to my commitment .

Windows Live Writer now has very good support for blogs published on Wordpress. I like to write my posts in installments, currently using the save feature provided by Wordpress. I tried using Windows Live Writer when it was in Beta but somehow my wordpress theme was not imported correctly and hence WYSWNWIG (What I Saw Was Not What I Got). Once it got out of beta, I tried to give it another try. The configuration was a breeze as it picked up the theme and configuration in 4 easy steps.

All set! I am writing this post on Live writer only. You can download various useful plug-ins for Live Writer from WLWPlugins or from Windows Live Gallery. Some of my favorites -

• Insert Video v3, that you can use to insert videos from various online video repositories like YouTube, Google, Soapbox, Yahoo, MySpace among others.
• Flickr4Writer – Include any public image from flickr in your posts.
• Polaroid Plug-in – Insert Polaroid style pics in your posts.

Windows Live Writer promises to be a very useful tool for people who have limited amount of time at their hand and still want their blogs to have that well-designed, professional look n’ feel.

And btw, this post was created in Windows Live Writer, using some of the plug-ins mentioned above.

This is my second attempt to maintain this blog. Earlier this domain hosted my personal blog, but it was way low on the search list of my name on various search engines, so I just decided to move that to a much easier found domain, that is ranked 1 on most search engines. So you can just get to it if you know my name . And now I am going to use this domain to talk about various things that are not as personal, mainly mostly about my hobby – new gadgets, software, hardware, technologies and sometimes about other things as well. So please do enroll to the feed to get the latest.
